Tim Sauvé Bio

Tim has been coaching for the past 6 years with McMaster University, also 2 of those years he helped with Golden Horseshoe Aquatic Club. Tim has worked with every level of athlete, and has seen what it takes to succeed.

Tim Sauvé took Chelsey Gotell to the German Open in Berlin, the Para Can-Ams in San Antonio Texas, and was one of the major influences for her in her preparation in the 2008 Beijing Paralympics where she won Gold in the 200 IM and the 100 Bk.

During his time at McMaster Tim helped build the team from 1 male national qualifier and 4 female national qualifiers to last year they had 24 athletes competing at the national championships. Tim took a keen interest in Strength and Conditioning, he was hired by Steve Lidstone (Strength and Condoning coordinator) and together they put a program in place that has become well known throughout Swim Ontario. He has helped organize and run many provincial level camps for the strength and condoning component, and also a national level camp which was the key training for the 2009 Pan Pac games in Melbourne, Australia.

Tim also has age group level coaching experience, during his first two years as a coach Tim helped Golden Horseshoe Aquatic Club. Tim was the assistant age group coach and the head novice coach. He was able to help the novice program grow tremendously in those two years, and also helped the age group program take off.

Tim as an athlete had a late start in the sport of swimming. He started at the age of 15 for the Chatham Y Pool Sharks. There he blossomed, making his age group national time his first year of swimming, and continued to be a national level athlete throughout his entire 8 year career. After graduation of High School Tim headed off to McMaster University and was very successful. He was an OUA all star all three of those years, and won an OUA Championship in his second year. Tim held the McMaster record in the 50 Fly for 10 years until it was finally broken this past season.

Tim is extremely excited about helping create a positive, fun environment in which every athlete can achieve their individual goals at Region of Waterloo Swim Club.
